What are the first things you get to see in your rear view mirror after you hear the ambulance or police car siren?  Warning lights are a great solution to signaling car troubles: provided you are required to fix your car on the side of the road, or you find yourself with an empty tank in the middle of nowhere, no matter what engine problems you encounter, amber warning lights will point your trouble out to bypassing traffic, either to warn them in regards to your position, either to show them you need a helping hand.
